Dumpsters/Waste Disposal

Dumpsters/Waste Disposal

Question:
We recently had our duct work cleaned and discovered that in our wall vents there is a small amount of asbestos tape. The house was built in 1925 so I imagine it has been in the house for quite a while but has probably stopped emitting. Now that it has been disturbed am I better to have it removed or just leave it alone? Our renovator suggested that since there was so little of it - only four wall vents - that we could just use some spray glue to seal off any loose particles.
Answer:

It's best to completely remove any hazardous materials. Asbestos tape will always have the risk of emissions no matter what the age. Heat ducts constantly expand and contract which means it is not undisturbed, coated or not. Better to error on the side of caution.

Question:
Where and how do I dispose of asbestos materials?
Answer:

Asbestos needs to be placed in a dbl bagged 3ml poly bag marked "asbestos containing". Goose necked and duct tapped around the top goose neck. Depending where you are located, there are select APPROVED Landfills for disposal of Asbestos. You could call your local landfill and ask some questions. Asbestos must be wrapped properly before the landfill will take it.

Question:
I am doing some minor remodeling and the question came up about the weight of the steel 4 cubic yard dumpster on my driveway. Can you provide me with the estimated weight of a 4 cubic yard steel dumpster. It is not a "roll on" type but the dump type.
